Curriculum

One of the reasons I decided to start adding posts to the blog section of my site is so that I could review and discuss curriculum. I've done this somewhat on my FB feed but wanted a more permanent place that was easier to find. I am familiar with an extremely large variety of homeschool curriculum and I hope to be able to share it with more families this way. When working for the charter school in California, I was trained by homeschool curriculum publishers on their products. Between my own children, co-ops, charter school families, and my families I work with in Florida I find myself full of curriculum knowledge and curriculum in my home.

What is curriculum?

The most common idea of curriculum is the books used for classes. However curriculum actually refers to any means and materials in which students will interact for the purpose of achieving educational outcomes. In homeschool language, curriculum is anything used to learn. It can be textbooks, structured curriculum, books, online courses, DVDs, online/streaming videos, workbooks, software, apps, manipulatives, games, CDs, nature (children learn so many things walking down the beach or hiking a trail,) field trips, classes, co-ops, apprenticeships, or anything else that your student used to gain knowledge.

I will include all these things here to share with you in hopes that you may incorporate things as you see fit into your own homeschool.
