Top Ten Subscription Boxes – Little Passports

Little Passports was the first educational subscription box that we discovered and I've been recommending it ever since. Originally there was just the World edition, but now they have three age level programs and a science one too! Each program has characters that communicate with the children through letters, postcards, souvenirs, activities, etc. The idea is that children learn about places and cultures around the world through the eyes of these characters. Not only do you receive physical materials each month in the mail, there is also an online component to each topic that children can log onto the Little Passports website where there are activities and games that go along with each topic.

Early Explorers (Ages 3 - 5)
This subscription box is for the littles ages 3 - 5. Each month will explore a new theme like music, dinosaurs, insects, space, animals, and more. In the first package you will get everything you need to get started: A fun orange suitcase, wall-sized world map, 20-page activity booklet, luggage tag, stickers and photo of the characters Mia, Max, and their dog Toby. Each month your child will receive in the mail materials for the theme that month including 20-page activity booklet, fun souvenirs, flashlight adventures, trading cards, letters, photos, stickers and luggage tags. It currently ranges from $14.95 - $17.95 a month depending on the length of your subscription. This is perfect curriculum for preschoolers that can be built on and studied all month long.

World Edition (Ages 6 - 10)
This was the program that I fell in love with. Each month your child will get the opportunity to study a new country including Egypt, Brazil, England, and France. In the first package you will get a blue suitcase, passport, wall-sized world map, a welcome letter from new pen pals Sam & Sofia, stickers, photo, and activity sheet. In each new box your child will receive letters from Sam & Sofia, fun souvenirs, activity sheets, stickers for your suitcase, passport & map, and photos. The souvenirs quickly became my son's favorite part. One month it was an amethyst, another model of a landmark to put together, no matter what it was always a hit. This subscription ranges from $11.95 - $13.95 a month depending on subscription length making it one of the cheapest educational subscription boxes out there by far.

USA Edition (Ages 7 - 12)    Once we finished the World Edition we moved onto the USA Edition. The information presented more in-depth and is definitely for the older ages, 7 - 8 year olds may be overwhelmed depending on their learning style. I would suggest waiting to start this until ages 9 - 10. The first box will come with a USA field guide, USA scratch book, wall-sized USA map, welcome letter from new pen pals Sam & Sofia, and a photo scavenger hunt project. Each month's box will feature two states with a 32-page activity-packed state journal, stickers, postcards, and pop out models. With two states a month it is extremely simple to expand this to a full US geography curriculum. When we did this I found that I added in too many extras and overwhelmed my son with activities and had to lessen my additional activities for each state. The USA Edition ranges from $11.95 - $13.95 making it one of the cheapest as well.

Science Expeditions (Ages 9+)
Science Expeditions is new since my children used Little Passports but I love the idea as with all science box subscriptions. One reason science subscription boxes are awesome is because they come with all the materials needed for at least one project if not multiple, plus accompanying child level literature. There is no scrounging around for science experiment materials five minutes before you have promised to do the experiment.
The initial box come with a science case and lab notebook as well as the first activity. For each activity your child will receive a 16-page comic book with glossary and bonus activity, a new mystery to solve with Sam & Sofia, hands-on science experiments, achievement badges for each monthly theme. Themes include rockets, forensic science, crystals, magnetism, and more! The ages listed are 9 and up but I feel that it could be used for younger children with proper instruction and supervision. This SB is more expensive than their others because of the materials for the activities. It ranges from $17.95 - $20.95 depending on subscription length which isn't too bad for a science subscription box.

Overall Little Passports is the subscription box I recommend the most to families. It has properties for kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learning along with an online component. Children love it and can't wait for it to arrive in the mail each month.
